26.06.2024 – International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Awareness Programme
On 26.06.2024, on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, an awareness programme on drug prevention and the harmful effects of substance abuse was organized at the Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Pollachi.
The programme was presided over by Mr. Jayachandran, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Pollachi.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Superintendent of Police expressed serious concern over the increasing vulnerability of not only young people but also school students to drug abuse in the present situation. He emphasized the urgent need to create greater awareness among students and young people about the dangers and harmful consequences of substance abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M. Vetrivel, Administrative Trustee of IYARKAYAI NESI PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST, stated:
«“In the coming years, IYARKAYAI NESI PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST will work in collaboration with the Police Department to conduct awareness programmes among school and college students on drug prevention and the harmful effects of substance abuse.”»
The programme also emphasized the importance of collective efforts by social organizations, educational institutions, and the Police Department to protect young people and students from substance abuse and to build a healthier, safer, and more responsible society.
